Okay, so green day almost did me in! Not because I couldn't think of something to do, but because the way that things worked out meant that I didn't actually complete these nails until around 11:00 last night. So I made sure to get them on instagram ASAP, but really could not be bothered to blog about them until today. I'm pretty sure that still counts as on time ;-)
So, first things first, I had what I hope will be a brilliant brainstorm yesterday! I was thinking about how hard all of the polishing and removing is being on my nails and semi lamenting that there are still three more weeks of damage coming, when I had a thought! I decided that painting a gel base, and then doing each daily challenge on top of the gel and removing it with non acetone remover will leave the gel intact, and hopefully be less damaging to my nail beds! So, that's what I did! Of course I didn't simply just paint them a nude colour as I happened to have picked up a french manicure set the day before at Shoppers Drug Mart. So, here is a picture of my french manicure gel nails!
This set is from SensatioNail and included the sheer pink base and an opaque white for the tips, as well as a buffer/file and tiny orange stick. The set also included enough white tips, that you could put on your nails if you weren't comfortable free handing the white tips, for ten full manis. Fortunately for me, I had my trusty NailVinyls and therefore did not have to attempt free handing or using the included tips. It is a really good deal at $17.00 for this set that includes two polishes, plus the aforementioned tips. Granted the bottles aren't very big, but I'm assuming that as there were ten sets of tips they're thinking it will be enough for ten manis- that would be my thinking anyway. The picture is only one coat of the pink and one coat of the white on the tips of every finger except my thumb, which I did first and for whatever reason I felt needed two coats. I don't really see a difference in the other fingers though, so clearly that was overkill. There is just something about a french manicure, it's so simple yet classy at the same time and I love it!!
So naturally I immediately covered it with my green day nails. I started with a base of piCture pOlish- Tail Feather, which in hindsight is too pretty a colour to basically completely cover with stamping. I then stamped with Rica- Summer Mint and the tree on the left of the MoYou London- Mother Nature Collection plate 11. The last step was to stamp with MoYou stamping polish in Midnight Green and one of the stamps from their Tropical Collection, the plate number is escaping me right now and it's out of stock on their site so I can't check.
This is my first time double stamping, but it absolutely will not be the last as I am so in love. It probably would have been better if the colour that I stamped with first was not so similar to the base, but I like it like that. In person, the difference is more noticeable. I will be back later today with my blue nails for day 5!
