31DC2014: Day 3

Hellooo!! Here I am again with day 3: yellow nails! I am really pleased with this look, I had an image in my head and it turned out really close to that. I am definitely no artist, anyone who knows me well can tell you that, but I am super happy with these sunflowers. While this is my first floral design during this challenge, it definitely will not be the last.

First I started off with two coats of my favourite nude cream, OPI-Don't Pretzel My Buttons. I then made some brown dots/semi-circular blobs with Zoya- Louise and piCture pOlish-Demeter over top. This polish is absolutely gorgeous, I definitely need to wear it more often. It is a Harlow & Co. exclusive, which is an online store right here in Ontario! They have amazing customer service and super speedy delivery, especially if you happen to live in Ontario ;-)

For the petals I used a few different colours of yellow and a nail art brush from the StylishNailArt Etsy store, which is another must to check out. I believe that I started with some petals of OPI-I Just Can't Copa-cabana, then in between added some petals of Cult Nails- Feel Me Up. My next round if petals which were semi in between and semi overlapping was a mix of a blob of Cult Nails- You're My Dandy Lion, a smaller blob of OPI- Where Did Suzi's Man-go? and an even smaller blob of Zoya-Louise which blended to make a nice, mustardy colour and is the darkest colour of the petals. I then went in just with Demeter to make the center more defined as I had overlapped the original blobs quite a bit with the yellow petals.

Whew, that sounds like a chore and a half, but it really didn't seem to take that long! Oh, I also forgot to mention in my earlier posts that my typical go to base coat is my tried and true perfect blend of one coat of the OPI-Nail Envy of the sensitive variety, and one coat of Cult Nails Get It On. For these posts I am just using two coats of Nail Envy as I'm not leaving these manicures on for very long and my nails can use the extra strengthening with all this polish removing I'm doing. My go to, holy grail base as of late has been the Glisten & Glow HK Girl topcoat. I have tried a lot of top coats, I seem to have a really weird unique nail chemistry and this, as well as the Cult Nails Wicked Fast are my favourites!

Tomorrow is day 4: green nails day. I have a slight idea in my head but I am not entirely sure what I will end up doing yet, so we will all have to wait and see!
