Indie Nail Art Contest for Nails by Kayla Shevonne

Hi all! This post contains my entry for the contest Nails by Kayla Shevonne is holding! The theme was indie nail polish, so I brought out my lovely little indies and put something together!

I saw this idea on another blog but at this moment I don't remember which one! If you know whose blog it was please let me know.  On the blog there was only one colour and the stripe was a but different but I decided to go super colourful with a thicker stripe. I am super pleased with the way it turned out.

I used the new piCture pOlish Revolution base coat on all of my nails and I am excited to see how it comes off! The top coat is Cult Nails Wicked Fast and the rest of the polishes are as follows:

Thumb: Cult Nails Tempest, KB Shimmer Let's Get Star-ted and Cult Nails Nevermore;

Index: Cult Nails Enticing, Aphrodite Lacquers Wherefore Art Thou and Cult Nails Bad DN;

Middle: Cult Nails Charming, KB Shimmer Iris My Case and Cult Nails Living Waters;

Ring: Cult Nails You're My Dandy Lion, KB Shimmer Where My Peeps At? and Cult Nails Morning Glory;

Pinky: Enchanted Polish Britney Spearmint, KB Shimmer Spring Training and Cult Nails Feelin' Froggy.

Originally I had put a stripe of Cult Nails Feel Me Up on my ring finger, but I really didn't like the look of the yellow on yellow so I put Morning Glory on top instead, which ended up being the perfect colour as it exactly matched one of the round glitters in the polish. Yay!

Chanel Fracas with Arrow

This manicure was inspired by a manicure that Maria, the founder and creator of Cult Nails, posted on Instagram. I absolutely loved it and decided to try it out! Obviously it's a little different as her arrows were narrower and on every finger. Also, Maria used silver and I decided to use gold as I didn't have a nice, shimmery silver.  The link to Maria's post is here.

My manicure is Chanel Fracas and the accents are A England Holy Grail (the new version) and Cult Nails Nevermore.  I used striping tape to make the arrow shapes. I loved how it turned out as striping tape can be quite finicky and my lines turned out pretty even! I love following other bloggers and finding inspiration in their ideas, or even just an interesting colour scheme! It's such a great community that I love being a part of.

St. Patrick's Manicure 2013

This was my manicure for St Patrick's Day this year. I loved it!  I really like the skittle look where every nail is different, as can be seen from this manicure, as well as my Valentine's manicure and the many ombres.  This one I remember the names of! Yay! My thumb nail is KB Shimmer Spring Training, a company that I am absolutely in love with!  My index and pinky nail are China Glaze Running in Circles with a coat of OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke, followed by another coat of Running in Circles making a sparkly green and gold combo that I loved and thought very appropriate.  My middle finger is Cult Nails Feelin' Froggy with Lime Crime Pastelchio in between.  My ring finger is Zoya Neely with a Cult Nails Deal With It shamrock!  I was really quite pleased with the turnout.  For whatever reason I always think that green will be an odd colour on nails, and yet whenever I wear it I absolutely love it with my skin tone.  Obviously I will have to try harder to remember how awesome it looks.

Valentine's Day Manicure 2013

 This is one of my favourite manicures that I have ever done! I was so happy with the turn out! Once again I am having trouble with the colour names, but I know that the glitter on my index finger is Lush Lacquer Mr. Bubble, and the glitter on my middle finger is A England She Walks In Beauty over another pink, which is my favourite combo for this polish.  The ring finger is a Bundle Monster stamp, and the pinky glitter is by Nails Inc.  The hearts on my thumb were free handed, which I was super happy with. I basically just did two dots beside each other with a dotting tool and then attempted to make a point by joining them.  I am in love with this manicure, it's just so bright and pink and happy, plus I could not stop staring at the sparkle, which is always fun.

These little hearts were done with the Line Camera app, which is awesome!

Peach Ombre with Lace

I was absolutely in love with this manicure, and still am in fact. Do you ever have a manicure on and think "If I could, I would wear this on my nails for the rest of time?" But then you're glad you can't because in a few weeks it happens again with a different manicure. Well at the time I definitely thought that about this one! I just love wearing peachy pink colours, and pairing them with a white lace stamp just added so much more.  Around my area there is a local festival called the Peach Festival which takes place every August, and this was the manicure that I wore to it last year. I obviously had to go with peachy tones.  The only colours that I remember from this one are OPI Melon of Troy on the middle finger, and I believe China Glaze Peachy Keen on the ring finger.  Looove!!

Purple Ombre with Stamp

This is another manicure that I'm afraid I don't remember the specifics of.  I know the thumb is A England Elaine, and I believe the ring finger is another Sally Hansen and the pinky is a Barry M.  I decided to add some flair with a stamp using a Konad plate and the Konad Blue Special Polish. The stamp is hard to see on the thumb, but there has always been something about purple and blue, especially when the blue has a shimmer, that I have found appealing and therefore I couldn't resist.

Green Ombre with Dots

Okay, so apparently I am the Queen of the blogging hiatus! Hopefully that length of time will not pass between posts again, but clearly I never know what is going to happen! I'm going to post a few of the older posts that I had saved, and then hopefully I will have more time to post some new ones! This is one that I had done some time last year. I don't remember the names of all of the polishes, but the index finger is Cult Nails Deal With It and the pinky is China Glaze Refresh Mint

I am in love with Deal With It, it's such a bright, happy green with a beautiful shimmer! I wasn't happy with Refresh mint though, mine came out more blue than mint green. The black dots were done with Cult Nails Nevermore, another amazing polish.  I believe the ring finger and possibly the thumb were done with Sally Hansen polishes, and I honestly have no idea about the middle finger. I really love the ombre look and have a couple more to post coming up.  I just love playing with colour and find the ombre manicure gives a uniform look while still adding something more interesting than just one colour.
